Why do you need a Loved Up Session with your Wedding Photographer? Well, the short answer is, you don’t.
But the more informed answer from a professional photographer of 23 (plus) years is, you should absolutely get one done anyway. The reasons, aren’t what you think.
If you take a couple of minutes to think about all the images of yourself you love or hate, that friends and family have taken, or even you may have taken (#selfies) over the years. There isn’t many of us that can put their hand up and say , ‘ Hey, I love every images that’s ever been taken of me!’, Is there?
My advice is, say yes to your photographers kind offer of a complimentary session. ( and YES, I absolutely offer & encourage them to ALL of my clients ).
For a few reasons….
- Why not they are 20-30 minutes at most, and we hear it all the time, ‘ My partner and / or I hate posing for photos’. and firstly, you shouldn’t – feel like you are posing, and it should fly by without feeling like a series of photoshoots, it should be a collection of images from your day – the one you designed – using a professional will allow your wedding day to flow, smoothly, no over the top posing! ( I promise!)
- At your engagement – Loved Up Session, You can take the time to explain what you LOVE and HATE about images that have been taken by others in the past.
- You can direct the photographer, in a way that will assist them to get the VERY BEST IMAGES on your wedding date! (i.e I don’t like this side of my face, as I have a scar from when I was a kid….etc).
- Go somewhere NEW! Maybe you want to see what your location will look like on the day? Or maybe you have no idea… your photographer, can take a look at your favourite spots, check out the locations, that you would LOVE to be photographed, it’s your day, make it special for you. Let your images tell your story.
- BE AWARE: some photographers take the same shots at the same locations every weekend – because they know they will get the best and safest options… yawn – sorry boring… keep looking!
- Having your wedding photographer, do your Loved Up Session, they will be best equipt on your wedding day to ensure that no ‘bad angles’, scars, tattoos, etc are shown ( if that is your preference of course!).
- FOR YOU – You get to know your photographer, other than your partner, it’s the person (or lens) you’ll spend MOST of your day looking at. You NEED to be comfortable and relaxed.
- Doing these sessions will ensure that you LOVE the banter, the little side jokes, the many many many ways, your chosen photographer, will help you feel more in the moment, to ensure you get those absolutely drop-dead stunning moments. (that’s why you pay them the big bucks!)
- P.s get a Hair and Make up trial done the same day – MAKE THE MOST OF THE COMPLIMENTARY SESSION! you will know what your hair and make up will look like on the day, if you hate it, or would like changes, then THESE are the best way to show your professional make up and hair stylist – they will appreciate the feedback, and you KNOW what you want and don’t want.
- A LOVED UP SESSION, is the perfect excuse to get dressed up, have a short relaxed portrait session, of just the two of you. On your wedding day, it’s all about everything and everyone else, these sessions are JUST FOR YOU.
- Last piece of advice…. book a dinner reservation for an hour after our appointment – I promise I won’t make you late, and it’s a sneaky way to head out allllll glammed up for date night!
Even if you don’t want to purchase a single image, do it for the experience. It’s a warm-up for the day, that you, your partner and the photographer will gain confidence by just doing the session. Ultimately, the Loved Up Sessions I do, the couples LOVE THEM. They leave feeling like – YES I HAVE THE PERFECT PHOTOGRAPHER for my BIG DAY.
(Yes of course, I include them will all of my packages, whether it be a short 4 hour, 6 hour, 8 hour or 10 hour collective!)
If you are choosing your wedding photographer, choose wisely, and anyone who doesn’t include the session for FREE…. think twice.
Do they really want to capture the two of you, relaxed, and chilled on your wedding day, or would they potentially just take you to the same spots, in the same poses as every other wedding they turn up on the day of and try to ‘create’. Your day should be about you, your day, they way you planned it, and by choosing a professional, you shouldn’t have a concern in the world on your big day, nor have to think twice about what is or isn’t being captured on your day!
Drop me a line, book a time, Let’s capture this special time for you both!
